History of Morisset Major James Thomas Morisset had camped here in 1823, and this is how the region got its name. Cooranbong is where the earliest settlers are known to have arrived in 1826. It is situated around 5 km away on the western side of the town. The town was entirely non-existent until 1887, when the railway station was built.
