Living in St. Lucia St. Lucia is one of the wealthiest suburbs in Brisbane, and it is still part of the top five most sought-after suburbs in the area. It has a green and leafy appearance to it, with trees and grass surrounding the area. The place's main attraction is the University of Queensland that has an Olympic pool, tennis court, libraries, cafes, and restaurants around. The dining options in St. Lucia serves diverse cuisines from Thai to Persian and Italian. There are plenty of state and private schools available in the suburb. The housing ranges from modern houses, townhouses, Federation and Queenslander style homes, and apartment units usually occupied by students from the University. Buses and ferry services are the only modes of transportation within the area as the nearest train station is at Toowong.

History of St. Lucia St. Lucia was initially part of Indooroopilly; then, the region was eventually absorbed by Toowong. Known originally as Indooroopilly Pocket, it was renamed Toowong South for a brief while, and a portion of the area was hived off as Lang Farm. In 1882, William Alexander Wilson, a West Indian native, bought the Coldridge Plantation and renamed it "St Lucia Sugar Plantation." It was subdivided for houses in 1883, and St. Lucia was given as the name to the subdivision.
