History of Arcadia Not much is written about the history of Arcadia, the island where it is situated - Magnetic Island, got its name because of the “magnetic” effect that it had on the compass of Captain Cook’s ship when it passed the island in 1770. Since then, various explorations have been made into what caused the said anomaly, but nothing has been discovered.
