** History of Berowra Heights** Berowra Heights is the residential area that was separated from Berowra and made a distinct outer Sydney suburb in 1973. In the Aboriginal language, Berowra means “a place with many shells.” The British settlers began arriving in the area around the 1830s. It was home to many large landowners by 1880, and they played a role in bringing the Main Northern railway line to Berowra in 1888. A post office followed in 1897. The area saw rapid growth following the construction of the Pacific Highway and bifurcated into Berowra and Berowra Heights in 1973.
