History of Blackheath Colonial history abounds in Blackheath. Andrew Gardner built "The Scotch Thistle Inn" in 1831, which was the first structure in Blackheath. The original location of "The Scotch Thistle Inn" was just south of the current Gardners Inn Hotel and has kept the original staircase from "The Scotch Thistle."
