Overview Bonny Hills is a settlement in New South Wales located 18 km from Port Macquarie, on the Tasman Sea. The Wauchope–Bonny Hills Surfing Life Saving Association is the suburbs oldest and longest-running organization, having been in operation since 1958.
Living in Bonny Hills Bonny Hills is a small village situated 4 to 5 hours north of Sydney and nearly an hour south of Port Macquarie. It is placed near the coast, and even in the morning, you can see a few whales in the distance. Moreover, Bonny Hills has a few necessities for a tiny town, such as a pizza store, a grocery, gas stations, and a fantastic pub! Also, the National Rugby League Grand Finals were held at Bonny Hills. When Manly competed against the Storm, the entire community packed into the tavern to cheer them on.
History of Bonny Hills Bonny Hills was driven from Green Hills or "Creamy." The lone permanent inhabitant, A. D. Suters, controlled much of the area, with his siblings, Colin Bain and Jack Suter, and Eddie, owning four additional weekender cottages. Arriving from Wauchope, Thomas Bartlett reached Green Hills in March 1933 together with his son Arthur and business partner Ted Hungerford, instantly buying 20 acres from A.D. Suters and then purchasing another 162 acres.
