History of Boreen Point The name “Boreen Point” originates from an Aboriginal word from the tribes around Moreton Bay, meaning the pathway that led between two Bora rings. The Cooroora Provisional School opened on 17 January 1898 and became the Cooroora State School on 1 January 1909. In 1933, the school was renamed Boreen Junction State School and closed down in 1947.
