Overview Braddon is a popular and diverse inner-south suburb in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT). It is located adjacent to the Civic Center. It is neighbours with Ainslie, a nearby suburb. As of the 2016 census, the population of Braddon was 5,500.

Living in Braddon Braddon is Canberra’s most densely populated suburb. It has been almost wholly redeveloped since its beginning in 1928, and now it has many flats and apartments. Braddon contains a commercial area that consists of many small art galleries, car rental agencies, cafes, and restaurants.

History of Braddon The construction of Braddon began in 1921, and it was gazetted as a town in September 1928. It was named in honour of Sir Edward Braddon, a Legislator, Federalist, and one of the Founders of the Constitution. The names of Braddon streets originate from Aboriginal words. In the 1920s, Braddon saw the first light-industrial area in Canberra and became the centre of automotive trades. However, the site has now been redeveloped into an entertainment and residential precinct.
