Overview Bucca is a rural town situated in the Bundaberg area. It sits along the Kolan River, with the Kolan as part of the locality. Both Longs Road and Bucca Crossing Road intersect the centre of the zone. One thousand twenty-seven people are living in Bucca, according to the 2016 data.
Living in Bucca Bucca is a calm and expansive locality that is 28 kilometres west of Bundaberg centre. The majority of the land is utilized for sugar plantations and native vegetation. No schools are established in the area, but there are nearby options, including Bullyard, Bundaberg North, Gin Gin, Gooburrum, Avondale, South Kolan, and Yandaran. You’ll find the Basil McLellan Park on its north, a lovely scenic spot among the locals.
History of Bucca Whilst the origin of Bucca was unrecorded, its locality Kolan has a history. It earned its title from the pastoral run, derived from the Kabi word “kalang”, or good. Accordingly, Bucca was once called North Kolan. In the 1880s, the river flats surrounding the Kolan Valley were created to establish sugar plants. The long-running Invicta Sugar Mill was initially stationed near the Kolan River. However, it was relocated to Burdekin in 1919, where it still operates until now.
Later in 1889, the Bucca Crossing Provisional School was inaugurated. It then transitioned into Bucca State School in 1909 but was eventually shut down in 1954.
