History of Burdwood This suburb was first called Ballyshanassy in 1858. However, in 1879, its name was changed to Norwood and eventually to Burwood. Also, Burwood used to be surrounded by farmland and marketplace gardens. Albers' Daffodil Fields, founded in 1934, is representative of the local supermarket garden.
It functioned on Deakin College's Burwood Complex site until 1951 when purchased by the authorities. Meanwhile, the 1912 expansion of a Residential apartment Road tram line sparked housing development. In the 1950s And 1960s, construction changed course along Burwood Avenue, including the Bennettswood neighbourhood, in which a postal service has been operating since February 2, 1954.
