History of Canning Vale
Canning Vale is named after Canning River. It is situated about 3 kilometres to the suburb's northeast. Until 1925, it was locally known as North Jandakot. Canning Vale was a farming area until the late 1970s. It consisted of mostly dairy farms and market gardens. Until 1994, most of the area was zoned rural under the Metropolitan Region Scheme. Ranford and Nicholson Roads were built as part of the Metronet rail project, with an expected completion date of 2021.
