Overview Casino is a rural suburb that is part of the Northern Rivers region in New South Wales. Located at an elevation of 26 metres above sea level, it is 716 km from Sydney and 189 km from Brisbane. The town is part of the Richmond Valley Council local government area. The suburb is situated on the banks of the Richmond River and is accessible via the Bruxner Highway.

Located on the banks of Richmond River, it is home to the UNESCO-listed site Richmond Range National Park. This is a picturesque town that is steep in history. History of Casino In the 1830s, Henry Clay and George Stapleton turned the land along Richmond River to run cattle. They named their property “Cassino” as inspired by Italy’s Monte Cassino. Over time, the spelling of the suburbs name was changed to Casino (dropping the extra ‘s’).
