History of Casino In the 1830s, Henry Clay and George Stapleton turned the land along Richmond River to run cattle. They named their property “Cassino” as inspired by Italy’s Monte Cassino. Over time, the spelling of the suburbs name was changed to Casino (dropping the extra ‘s’).
