Living in Chelsea Heights Situated only a few kilometres to Chelsea Beach, Chelsea Heights is a beautiful and peaceful suburb. The area is family-friendly, with great homes that are built on large blocks of land. Although not a huge amount of options, there is a vast park and some small gardens in the area. The suburb provides easy access to major supermarkets and is just a few kilometres from the Springvale market. History of Chelsea Heights Chelsea Heights was known as the Isles of Wannarkladdin before the 1870s. It was the only high land of the Carrum Carrum Swamp. The suburb is situated on an ancient coastal sand dune, and parts of the area were leased for grazing during the 1850s. In the 1890s, a primary school was opened in the area, Carrum North primary school. The name of the school was changed to Chelsea Heights in 1964. The suburb was subdivided and named Chelsea Heights in 1912. The development of the area started with the establishment of some shops, a kindergarten, and an infant welfare centre.
