Overview New South Wales' Condell Park is a suburb in southwestern Sydney. About 22 km from the city CBD, it was a historical hunting and vegetable farming area. The suburb is under the Canterbury-Bankstown local council. According to the 2016 census, it had 11,574 residents, and almost half of them are of non-Australian origin. Condell Park is home to heritage-listed Bankstown Bunker, which hosted Sydney's air defence headquarters during World War II.

History of Condell Park Ousley Condell, an engineer, led the first settlers to the area, and the suburb is named after his 50-acre estate Condell Park. Condell and his 13 companions reached the site in 1829 and began settling there. Gradually, settlers befriended local Aboriginals, who helped them in haunting and vegetable farming. In 1942, the Bankstown Bunker was built to house the new covert Air Defence Headquarters. The base was operational until 1947 as the headquarters of the Royal Australian Air Force. In 1976, Condell Park went through a major urban renewal.
