Overview Deniliquin is a town of the Riverina region, New South Wales, belonging to the local government area of the Edward River Council. Locals in the suburb prefer to call it “Deni”. It is popular as an agricultural suburb because of its abundance of rice, wool, and timber industries. The town has a recorded population of 10,124 in the 2016 national census.
Living in Deniliquin Deniliquin is the second largest town in the Edward River Council. History of Deniliquin Deniliquin, known initially as the Sandhills, was acquired by Benjamin Boyd in 1843, who renamed it Deniliquin. Boyd took the name after ‘Denilakoon’, a local Aboriginal known for his talent in wrestling. The town served as the connecting point of major stock routes of Queensland and Victoria before being officially proclaimed as a municipality in 1868.
