History of Drummoyne Drummoyne means 'Flat Topped Ridge' in Gaelic. A merchant named William Wright bought land in the northern part of the area in 1853, and the area is now known as Lyons Road and Victoria Road. He also named the Drummoyne House that was built in the Classic Georgian style in Drummoyne Park. He called the park after his family home at Drummoyne on Clyde in Scotland.
