Overview Dunwich is a small town on the western side of the North Stradbroke Island in Queensland, Australia. History of Dunwich Dunwich was initially known as Goompi and renamed “Green Point” by the European settlers. The first settlement at Dunwich was a pilot station and military post in 1827. The name “Dunwich” was kept in honour of the family title of Viscount Dunwich of the Earl of Stradbroke on 16 July 1827. The Dunwich Post Office opened on 22 October 1896.
