History Elizabeth East is a northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Playford. Elizabeth East is a town with a population of approximately 1200 people. Elizabeth East was settled in 1856 by a couple from England, John and Elizabeth East.It was the first settlement inland from Adelaide, South Australia and they founded a flour milling company that operated for over 130 years.In 1858 the first school was built in Elizabeth East and it is still operating today. In 1868 the Church of England opened, followed by the Methodist Church in 1870. In 1919 the town's name changed to Elizabeth East from Mount Waller after Mr W J Waller donated 10 acres of land for a school site.In 1921 the school had its first headmaster, Mr R L Rowbotham.
