History of Eynesbury Eynesbury was named after a town in the United Kingdom. It was related to Simon Staughton, born in the United Kingdom and moved to Australia with his family. He moved to Australia in 1841 and settled on 101,000 acres. Samuel Thomas Staughton Sr. built the Eynesbury Homestead in 1872, and it was the most grand of the four homesteads. He got around the 20,000-acre property from his father Simon that is restored and is listed as a Place of State Significance by the Heritage Council Victoria. During the 1870s, the development in the area began with the construction of the Eynesbury Station complex.
