History of Forestville From the name itself, Forestville represents a town in the forest. This suburb was once a profusely wooded forest before James French resided in the area in 1856. From then, timber felling became his hobby. He later acquired more land, and that’s where the Frenchs Forest earned its title. In 1920, the Frenchs Forest Settlement Post Office was established and was subsequently replaced with Forestville in 1947. And during the 1960s, the place was developed into a housing expanse.
