Overview Glenlyon is a small suburb that is part of the Shire of Hepburn local government area in the state of Victoria. It is located on the Loddon River and is approximately 100 km from Melbourne and 11 km from Daylesford. It has a growing permanent and weekender population.

History of Glenlyon Richard Babington and John Carpenter purchased land in the area in the mid-1800s and called it Glenlyon (based on their Scottish home). It eventually became the inspiration for the name of this village. Its first post office opened in 1858, and over time there were new establishments that opened. It is now a thriving small suburb with access to basic services and amenities.
