Both Malbon Thompson Forest Reserve and Grey Peaks National Park serve as the eastern boundaries. Bruce Highway and Gillies Range Road connect at the centre and extend to other areas.

History of Gordonvale The land where Gordonvale sits was once the territory of the Yidinji tribe. The British then settled in the area by 1877, and the initial residents were William Saunders Ally, Mr Blackwell, and their clan. These families created some of the early developments in town, including cutting a road to tow cedar logs. Subsequently, more structures were built, including pubs, shops, schools, churches, and the like.
