Overview Declared Australia’s first inland suburb in 1863, Goulburn is a regional location in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. As of June 2018, the suburb has a population of 23,835, with more than 80% of people born in Australia.

History of Goulburn Surveyor James Meehan named the suburb after Under-Secretary for War and the Colonies Henry Goulburn. Governor Lachlan Macquarie further ratified the name. In 1820, the colonial government made land grants to free settlers later sold to settlers. As far as indigenous history is concerned, the Mulwaree people lived throughout the area.
