History Hannans is a residential suburb of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, a city in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia. The gold rush began in 1892 and the area was quickly inundated with prospectors. The town of Hannans was first established as a tent town, but it became a permanent settlement by 1896. In 1968, Hannans was a small farming settlement with a population of 2,000 people. In 1969, they were informed that they would have to leave their homes and relocate for a large engineering project. They agreed to move to a new town which had been built south of the original location by 1973.
