History of Harrington Park Harrington Park was initially inhabited by the Moringong, who belonged to the Darug peoples group. In 1795, Governor Hunter surveyed the region where Harrington Park is located and called it "Cowpastures" after the healthy herd that was growing in number there.
Land grants happened in 1813, where 2,000 acres were given to trader Capt. William Douglas Campbell. He gave the name to the suburb in honour of his vessel that convicts earlier seized.
In 1944, Sir Warwick Oswald Fairfax bought the suburb and the nearby property to build a homestead and nursery in the area.
