Overview A rural suburb in the Moreton Bay Region, Highvale has come a long way from a banana plantation area to become an emerging residential hub. It is 30 km northwest of Brisbane's CBD, located amid a mountainous landscape dominated by national parks. The South Pine River headwaters are close to Highvale, home to 1,766 residents in 2016.

History of Highvale This Queensland suburb is located at an elevation of 500 metres at the foothills of Mount Nebo and Mount Glorious. During the days of early settlements in the area, the most significant estate was named "The Highlands" due to the valley's elevation. Until 1923, the place was referred to as Highland. But when a new telephone line was constructed through the locality, the name was changed to Highvale, as another area called Highland existed.
Highvale was promoted as a place for banana farms in 1919. A school came up in 1921. The locality came to have many homesteads and hosts many horse-centric events that continue today.
