History Holden Hill is a suburb in the inner north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. It is around 10 km from the Adelaide CBD. It was first settled in 1836 by Major Thomas O'Halloran and John McArthur.In 1837, the land near Holden Hill was leased to John McArthur and he established a flour mill, corn mill and a brewery.In 1840, Holden Hill became part of the Burra Burra District Council which had been established earlier that year.In 1841, there were 12 houses and the population was about 150 people.In 1844, the area became part of Adelaide County Council following the division of South Australia into two separate colonies.
