History Hove is a coastal suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is situated north of Brighton, west of Warradale, and south of North Brighton. Property prices are generally higher on the coastal side of Brighton Road. Historical Timeline: In 1843, the first settler, Mr. Tappe, arrived on horseback from Victoria.In 1846, Hove became a town with the arrival of the paddle steamer "Lady Alice" which also carried passengers and goods from Melbourne.In 1854, Hove had a population of 300 people.In 1859, gold was discovered in Victoria and there was a rush of people going to the goldfields. The town's population fell dramatically to 85.Hove has a population of more than 5000 people today.
