Living in Laidley Laidley, an agricultural suburb, is the second largest town of Lockyer Valley. The suburb has endorsed itself as the "Country Garden of Queensland" because dark rich soils surrounding it is ideal for vegetable growing, cotton, dairying, and mixed farming.

Laidley is also famous for its unique Das Neumann Haus, today a visitor and tea room centre, the Laidley Pioneer Village Museum, and the statue of a Clydesdale (a Scottish bred horse) between the local council and Das Neumann.

Laidley is 60 minutes from the city centre of Brisbane but maintains its old-fashioned brand of hospitality amidst magnificent scenery and rich farmlands.

History of Laidley Laidley was inhabited by the Birren, Kitabul, and Jagara Aboriginal people before the arrival of the European settlement.

In 1829, the area which is now known as Laidley was first explored by Allan Cunningham. He named Laidley's Plain after New South Wales' deputy-commissary-general, James Laidley.
