History of Lake Bunga Lake Bunga is the easterly of all the lakes in the Gippsland Lakes in eastern Victoria. The original people to reside in the area were the Kurnai people. Angus McMillan was the first person to survey the area in 1840, while John Reeves charted the lakes in 1843. Soon after the survey, cattle runs were established across the region.
