Overview Lota is a coastal suburb in the eastern outer portion of Brisbane, Queensland. This suburb is located 16 km to the east of Brisbane CBD. History of Lota The Quandamooka people previously occupied lota. They know it as Narlung, which means “the place of long shadows”. In the 1860s, the land was acquired by pastoralist William Duckett White, and the area was subdivided. He named it Lota after his residence in Brisbane, which was called Lota House.
