Overview Maryknoll is a suburb located within the local government area of the Shire of Cardinia in Victoria, Australia. It is situated approximately 61 km from Melbourne’s CBD area. It is also 32 km from Berwick. It is one of the youngest towns within the LGA. Maryknoll shares borders with Nar Nar Goon North, Tonimbuk, Garfield North, Tynong North, and Nar Nar Goon.
Living in Maryknoll Maryknoll is a small suburb that is located right next to Bunyip State Park. Established in 1950, this is a young town but a thriving one. The suburb is served by basic facilities and amenities, including a community hall, a Catholic church, dessert shops, and a recreation reserve. It is also home to various sports clubs such as tennis club and cricket club. Maryknoll is also abundant when it comes to walking tracks and forested parks. There is no school in this town, however.
History of Maryknoll The town of Maryknoll came to be after a Catholic priest envisioned building a rural community that is ideal for families and for him to practice the Catholic faith. After the town was established, its original name of St. Mary’s was changed to Maryknoll in 1955. The original rural settlement consisted of about 30 families.
