Surrounding Millmerran are the suburbs of Turallin, Lemontree, Yandilla, Captains mountain, Punchs Creek, Clontarf, Domville, and Grays Gate. Based on the 2016 census, Millmerran is home to 1,563 residents.

Some of the establishments include two supermarkets, a hospital, a sports centre, a bakery and cafe, a retirement village, a police station, and caravan parks.

History of Millmerran Bigambul is the Australian Aboriginal langue spoken in the region where Millmerran is located. In the early days, the suburb was used as a lookout by its original inhabitants. The suburb's name is derived from two Aboriginal words “meel”, which means “eye”, and “merran” meaning “to look out”.
European settlement began here in 1841 after the Yandilla station was established. This said station had a school, a store, and a telegraph station. The suburb was called Domville between June 1889 to November 1894.
