It is approximately 15 km from Byron Bay and 130 km from Brisbane. It is situated at the foot of Mount Chincogan in the Brunswick Valley.

History of Mullumbimby The name of this town is believed to be originating from a Bundjalung word that means “hill”. In the 1850s, the Europeans colonised the area from the local Midjungbal tribe that once lived here. Throughout its history, it was the centre of dairying, shipbuilding, and agricultural activities.
