History of Narellan Vale The Tharawal people of said Illawarra district were most likely the original inhabitants of the Narellan Vale region. However, the Western Sydney-based Darug inhabitants and the Southern Highlands-based Gandangara individuals already lived there. Initial interactions with English people have been friendly. Still, as farm owners began emptying and netting the land, threatening agricultural reserves, confrontations between both the organisations erupted until 1816, whenever a set of the native population slaughtered. The remaining fled back from direct contradiction with the colonists.
