Overview Newcomb is a residential suburb located approximately 3 km southeast of Geelong, Victoria. It belongs to the Federal Division of Corio with a population of 4,500, as of the 2016 census. Newcomb is bordered by many other suburbs, including East Geelong, Corio Bay, Moolap, Thomson, and Whittington.

History of Newcomb Newcomb was initially known as West Maloop but was changed to Newcomb in 1956, after Caroline Newcomb. The name change was done at the request of the West Maloop Progress Association. The suburb underwent significant growth in the 1960s, especially following the establishment of heavy industry in the area. Its population also grew over the years.
