The 5.2 sq. km area comes under the local jurisdiction of the City of Parramatta, which is located to its immediate south. It has North Rocks to its north, Northmead to its west, Oatlands and Rydalmere to its east and Carlingford to the northeast.

History of North Parramatta The Darug people were original inhabitants of North Parramatta. Its proximity to rivers, farmland and forest offered them hassle-free sustenance. Europeans began settling in the area in the early 1790s, and the growth of their activities led to conflict with the Aboriginals. Between 1795 and 1816, the Darug chieftains, most notably Pemulwuy, carried successive raids on European settlements. This stopped after military actions initiated punishing the local clans and permanent stationing of the army in North Parramatta.
