Overview Ourimbah is a large semi-rural suburb that lies north of Gosford, on the Central Coast of NSW. Despite the vast land and large blocks in Ourimbah, you are only a 15-minute drive to Gosford, giving you excellent access to transport and shops.
Living in Ourimbah According to the 2016 census, it has 3,951 people. Today Ourimah has the University of Newcastle’s Central Coast Campus with university courses and programs of Community College and TAFE. It also has Central Coast’s oldest school, named Ourimbah Public School. It has several heritage-listed buildings and historical sites like Sawmill, Dwelling, Utility Structure, and many more. In terms of transport, it is serviced by the Ourimbah Railway station.
History of Ourimbah The township was also referred to as the ‘Blue Gum Flats.’ In the late 1800s, the current name ‘Ourimbah’ came universally into practice. Blue Gum Flat School was the original name of Ourimah public school in its opening year, 1863. The school was relocated, and the Ourimbah Railway Station was built-in 1886. However, the railway station opened on the 15th of August 1887. Recently, it has evolved into a suburban commuter township from a rural town in the past few years.
