History of Pialba Formerly a part of Point Vernon, Pialba was once called Poison until 1931. Then in 1896, the Hervey Bay railway track was opened, servicing between Maryborough and Pialba. Another notable development in the community was the establishment of radio broadcasting (currently ABC Wide Bay) in 1948. Years later, many schools, churches, and commercial expansions were added.
