Overview Rhodes, an Inner West suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, covers an area of one square kilometre. It is 12 kilometres to the west of the city centre of Sydney.
Rhodes is part of the local government of the City of Canada Bay. Rhodes had a population of 11,906 people (2016 census).
Living in Rhodes Rhodes is one of the few places where everything seems to be 5 minutes away from where you are, including public buses, the train station, and the shopping centre. Also within a 5-minute walk are water views, parklands, and walking pathways. More importantly, Rhodes is only 20 minutes from Sydney.
There are some commercial buildings in the Rhodes Redevelopment Areas, mainly in Rider Boulevard, west of the railway, including the Australian Associated Press, the Rhodes Corporate Park. On the east of the railway is the Rhodes Corporate Park, where the Nestle and Citibank offices are located.
Commercial centres in Rhodes include major retail establishments such as the Rhodes Waterside, Rhodes Central.
Most of the residential areas located on the east of the railways are one or two-storey buildings. On the west of the railway are residential buildings with four to eight stories. Rhodes also has single dwelling and high-end residential areas.
The Transit System and the State Transit passing through Rider Boulevard and Concord Road provide bus services in the suburb. The Rhodes railway station is 30 minutes from the city centre of Sydney by rail.
History of Rhodes Rhodes got its name from Rhodes Hall, in Leeds, England, the home of one of its early residents, Thomas Walker (1791–1861).
Rhodes used to be part of Concord Municipality. In 2000, Concord was merged with Drummoyne Council to form what is today Canada Bay.
