Overview Rochester comes under rural Victoria in Australia, and this little town lies 180 kilometres north of Melbourne. The 2016 census stated its population to be 3,113. In 1855 prior to the township being gazetted, a hotel in the town was owned by Dr. John Pearson Rowe, the name of this town is inspired by his name. 11TH of May 1863 marks the opening of the post office. On the 1st of January 1990, the Rochester Magistrates’ Court winded up.
