Overview Seaford is a suburb of Victoria located to the west of Carrum Downs and north of Frankston. Melbourne's CBD is less than 35 km northwest of it. Seaford is under the jurisdiction of the Frankston city council and had 16,463 residents at the 2016 census. History of Seaford The present-day Seaford is located at the site where there was the Karrum Karrum swamp. After the English settlers took over the area from the Bunurong Aboriginal people, they dried the swap and began farming practices. It was named Seaford after a council of residents in 1913. Soon a railway station was inaugurated, and a post office followed in 1914. Seaford became an affordable Melbourne suburb in the 1950s, and its beach-side location entices many to reside there. The 1970s saw substantial improvement in public utilities, and the area rapidly rose to become a large suburb.
