Overview Shailer Park is a popular suburb of Logan City, Queensland, Australia. It is a centre for employment and entertainment in southeast Queensland. According to the 2016 census, the population of the area was recorded as 11,759 people. The suburb lies on hilly terrain between the Pacific Motorway and forest and bushland to the North.
Living in Shailer Park Most of the residential areas in Shailer Park are occupied by the middle class, and it is home to many employment and entertainment opportunities. The Logan Hyperdome is the major regional shopping centre. As the area is considered a major activity centre, many other commercial and community facilities are available. There is also a library with the name Logan Hyperdome Library operated by the Logan City Council. The suburbs boasts quite an exciting lifestyle and has a lot to offer.
History of Shailer Park The name Shailer Park came after Francis Frederick Rising Shailer and his wife, Catherine. They arrived in the area in 1866 and started growing cotton and sugar. The family was known for their fruit growing, and they also operated the first citrus orchard in Slacks Creek, southern Queensland. On September 1, 1971, Shailer Park was named as a district and on the same date in 1977 as a sub-district of Slacks Creek. On August 31 1991, it was revised to be a suburb. The development was started with the establishment of the Kimberley Park estate in 1973.
