History of South West Rocks The South West Rocks Pilot Station Complex is one of several heritage-listed sites in the area. This collection of coastal structures was relocated in 1902 after being flooded in 1893. A few miles north of South West Rocks, Grassy Head was where the Pilot, his team, and their families operated until 1893. Probably one of the hardest floods in the valley's history occurred in 1893. It ravaged the district, eventually bursting through the sandy hills near SW Rocks to form a new entry.
