History of Summer Hill Summer Hill was part of a larger area before the First Fleet at Port Jackson in 1788. The first land grant was made in 1794 to Henry Kable, and after the opening of its first railway station on the Main Suburban railway line in 1879, the area began to develop. In the 1920s, it was a preferred area for the upper class, and there were large estates and mansions.
