Overview Tennyson Point is a suburb located north of Sydney, New South Wales. The locality of the City of Ryde governs the land of Tennyson Point. The suburb is found north of Parramatta River between Glades Bay and Morrisons Bay. Tennyson Point is only about 10 kilometres from the western portion of the central business district of Sydney. In 2016, Tennyson Point had a recorded population of 14,415.

However, Tennyson Point also has village cafes, shopping strips, novelty shops, excellent schools nearby, supermarkets, convenience stores, etc. The town has parks, playgrounds, beautifully lined sidewalks, and open space for locals and passersby.
History of Tennyson Point In 1792, Captain William Raven sailed to New South Wales and from 1795 to 1799, he was granted a total of 385 acres of land in the Tennyson Point area. He and James Squire managed his land from the Kissing Point in the 1820s. During that same period, all lands within the area were owned by Thomas Charles Farnell and Mary Ann Farnell, daughter of James Squire. Tennyson was subdivided in 1887 and was named after a renowned poet, Alfred Tennyson. However, in 2001, the Geographical Names Board of New South Wales established the township’s name to be Tennyson Point.
