History of The Palms The Palms is a relatively new suburb in the Gympie region, which was named by the Governor in Council on 9 October 1982. It was bounded on 1 December 2000. The area was mainly used for rural residency, although, now, some areas are used for farming and grazing. The Palms was gazetted on 5 March 2010 by the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and the Minister for Trade on 5 March 2010 due to the council amalgamations under the Local Government Reform Implementation Act 2007.
