History of Yarragon Yarragon was, in the 1870s, originally known as Little Moe. However, there was also another town with the same name, causing some confusion with mail. In 1833, the town got its new name, Yarragon, after the neighbouring parish. The Yarragon Post Office was finally renamed Yarragon in 1883 after being known as the Post Office of Waterloo, Gippsland, in 1878. Yarragondoc, which means moustaches, is an Aboriginal word that may relate to the name Little Moe.
