History The Njakinjaki are an Aboriginal group that have inhabited this area for over 60,000 years. The town of Aubin Grove was originally established as a copper mining town in 1881 but quickly closed down in 1885 because it had little copper and most of the population left. Aubin Grove was first established as a stopover site for truck drivers travelling between Perth and Kalgoorlie. However, it is now best known as a place where newly arrived refugees can learn English before they are relocated to other communities. Aubin Grove is now a suburb of Perth, Western Australia in the City of Cockburn. The suburb was approved in 2003. Formerly part of the rural locality of Banjup. It is named after Henry John Aubin, who leased agricultural land in the area in 1897.
