History of Bajool The town's name is derived from a word of Aboriginal origin and the same name as the lagoon on Gracemere. According to speculations, the name means “stop here”. A provisional school was opened in the area in 1888 but was closed in 1892. Three years later, it reopened only to close again. Over time, a few other schools opened in the area and along with it came more industrial and residential developments in the town.
